The first time I met Dr. Reyes was when he was a resident at County USC and I must say that I was truly blessed to have had such an incredible doctor who was there for me on every level possible. In 1999, I fell into a deep depression after meeting my biological father for the first time and after meeting and reuniting my mother's family (in another country) after 20 years. It was a life lesson I would never want to repeat again but because of it, I feel that I am a better person who can empathize with folks who are going through a similar journey. I am also forever grateful to Dr. Atman Reyes for getting me through the most difficult time of my life. He was, without a doubt, very instrumental in getting me back on track. His patience, his compassionate heart and his professionalism shined during the darkest time, giving me hope and strength to move forward. I really can't imagine how I would have made it through, had he not been my physician. Right before him, I had another doctor who was cold and heartless and who told me, to my face, that there really was no hope for me. Can you imagine? There are doctors out there who haven't a clue in how to be 'real' and/or empathetic to the needs of their patients, but I can assure you that if you are seeking an amazing psychiatrist for either yourself or for a family member, I can tell you that Dr. Reyes is someone you can trust! It's been about 8 years since I last saw him. Since then, I've continued to be on a low dosage of anti-depressants. The anxiety attacks that I had experienced had gone away completely..although within the last few months I have had a few episodes because of a long awaited trip to India, that is being planned right now...as you can imagine, my level of anxiety is going up and down, which is normal but I have faith in myself that everything will turn out great! :) I truly wish every single one of you love, peace, clarity and health. And, if you should consider Dr. Reyes to be your physician, you will not regret it. Be patient with your progress or with the progress of those you love. Be honest with yourself and ask questions. You have the answers within...you are beautiful just the way you are and the world is yours, if you open your heart to it. May each of you be blessed now and always.
